It's not possible (at the moment) to get the first x characters using the "format" function. But you can get around it this way: First use the "add" function and add for example # at position 10. Next use the format function and use the # character as a delimiter!

ROCKS! We just found it and registered it (two copies even!) and we love it.
Quick question: under the Format tab, is it possible to define a part of the filename as just a certain number of characters?
For example, I have the following files:
And I want to use Format Filename to move all three images to a new folder called 1234567890.
I currently use
with Define Parts set to
(and I have “Only rename if all used tags are available” checked)
and it moves the 1234567890_XL file perfectly to a new folder. Wonderful!
Is there a way to use Define Parts to grab just the first 10 characters of the filename so I can move any files that start with 1234567890 to the new folder?
